| The
Pine Haven Health and Rehabilitation Center has been locally owned
and operated since its inception in 1957. Jim and Anita Stocker
created Pine Haven in order to provide a caring, home-like environment
for those elderly in the Evansville area in need of long-term nursing
care. Today, their daughter and son-in-law, Ruth and Earl Smith,
continue to own the facility and remain devoted to the principles
upon which it was founded. In 1995, the Smiths leased Pine Haven
to Chuck Bowman, who continues the operation in a manner consistent
with the goals and objectives of its founders.
In order to remain competitive in today’s long-term care environment
and to continue to be in a position to meet the needs of the Evansville
community, the Smith family responded by expanding the original
facility with two state-of-the-art additions. The Stocker I unit,
containing 28 beds, opened in 2001, and the Stocker II unit, containing
23 beds, opened in 2005. Both are certified for participation in
the Medicare Program.
